What are cockroaches?
There are over 4,600 different species of cockroaches. About 30 of those, including the German, American, and Oriental cockroach, can be found in commercial or residential areas. They are usually flat, oval-shaped, and oily to the touch ranging from as small as half an inch to as big as 6 inches.
The lifespan of cockroaches varies, with some living up to a year. A female German cockroach can produce up to 10,000 nymphs in her lifetime.
Cockroaches can carry bacteria and pathogens like E. coli and salmonella on their bodies, so anything a cockroach walks across, including food, can become contaminated. They are also known to produce an allergen that can trigger asthma attacks.
Cockroaches: are attracted to moist, humid, and dark spaces. They will eat just about anything, including human food and even household items like soap and plants.
